CCL

The CCL (Committee of Cooperation with Laos) is a French association of international solidarity which has been working with the people from the northern uplands of Lao PDR since 1980. 90% of their expenses directly benefit to them. They are supported in particular by AFD (Agence Française de Développement), Brot für die welt and the European Union.

Their cooperation with the people of Laos is both technical (in-depth knowledge and experience) and human (desire to progress, flexibility, adaptation to the local context). By promoting accountability and empowerment, they support populations and decision-makers in identifying and implementing solutions adapted to each situation, in a harmonious and independent manner. They favor training actions and the reinforcement of the capacities of expression, creativity, negotiation and organization of individuals and groups.

CCL is working since 2008 in the district of Nyot Ou to improve the food and nutritional security of the uplands families of Nyot Ou district. Today, CCL has supported more than 3,000 families from the district. CCL is accompanying and encouraging  smallholder farmers families in their agroecological practices through the valorisation of non-timber forest products and in particular, tea. The association encourages the sustainable management of natural resources, while improving the structure of the tea sector. It accompanies the emergence of the Nyot Ou Tea cooperative to give it the means to become autonomous.
